#164 The Magi

Program #164 – “The Magi” – 12/21/2014 – Synopsis

This year’s Christmas program focuses on the story of the magi who were a class of governmental advisors to Middle East kings. God has His people working in government; knowing this, we should be more motivated to “pray for kings and all who are in authority” (1 Timothy 2).

I cover some of the secular and Biblical history of the magi. In the ancient world there were both good and evil advisors to the kings, even as today we have both good and evil people working in the bureaucracy of government. Daniel was one of the righteous magi who apparently had an impact on the class of magi in Persia. Consequently, 500 years later a group of magi believed in and sought after the Messiah.

The magi are an amazing example of those who have such great faith that they are willing to make incredible sacrifices to seek the Lord.
