#305 God’s Good Purpose for Gov. School

Program #305 “God’s Good Purpose for Government Schools” –
9/3/2017 – Synopsis

As is my usual practice at the beginning of September, this week’s program is my annual government school program. The program addresses the cry of God’s people through the ages: “Oh Lord, why do you allow the wicked to prosper?” Or rather, why does God allow the continuance of men and institutions that spurn His name?

Martin Luther said about his humanist opponent Erasmus, “I pray every day that God would curse Erasmus.” This is not necessarily vindictiveness, but compassion. The greatest blessing we can receive is for God to care enough about us to stop us in our sin.

The bottom line is that God allows the wicked to continue to showcase their sin and demonstrate God’s righteous judgment. The Pharaoh of the Exodus is the primary Biblical example. “I raised you up to demonstrate My power in you and that My name might be proclaimed through the whole earth” (Romans 9:17). Christians must understand this principle, not only in regard to government schools, but in regard to many people and institutions that appear to be thwarting God’s purposes in our day.
