#87 “NSA Snooping”

Synopsis: Program #87 “ NSA Snooping” – June 30, 2013

Synopsis: Do you know the details of the Patriot Act? The Electronic Communications Privacy Act? Article 4 of the Bill of Rights? Biometric Identification? You will be surprised to discover what rights and what abilities the Federal Government has to access your personal phone calls, emails and computer data. We are living in a surveillance society not unlike the one imagined in Orwell’s
1984.

The real story behind Edward Snowden’s exposure of NSA snooping is not the ethics of Snowden’s behavior, but the enormous storage and computer capacity of the NSA. Snowden alerted the public to what we should have seen coming if we had paid attention to the news – the capacity of the beast.

We don’t have to wait upon some prophecy to be fulfilled, some technology to be invented, or some new wickedness to arise. The system is in already in place for the rise of the anti-Christ.

Follow-up on Program #87 – “NSA Snooping”

When I do the research for God and Country Radio, my greatest concern is that I fail to get the facts straight. Even though the data may appear to point to definitive conclusions, I don’t want to be guilty of speculation. Therefore, I am always pleased when the media confirms my findings.

In program #87, I mentioned that, given what we had been told about the Patriot Act of 2001, the American public should have already known Snowden’s assertion that the NSA is looking at everyone’s emails and phone calls.

Confirmation: A week after my program aired, James Clapper, the Director of National Intelligence, apologized for telling Congress that the NSA does not gather data on Americans. In his own words, “What I said was clearly erroneous.” He then went on to say that Americans have long known the Untied States implemented surveillance programs under the Patriot Act.

Bingo! I wish I had his apology last weeks for Program #87.

So what is my point? We can use sanctified common sense to discern what is going on behind the front page story (See Matthew 16:3). Or as a friend once told me, “Just because you are paranoid doesn’t mean people aren’t really out to get you.”
